Last week I stated that mother’s were unique. God reminded me that when He created man and woman in the Garden of Eden, they were unique.
And the Lord God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul. (Genesis 2:7)
In Chapter 1 of Genesis, God spoke creation into being. He spoke and it was done. In the case of Adam and Eve, God formed man out of the dust of the ground. Then He breathed the breath of life into Adam’s nostrils. That action became a living soul. None of the other creative acts of God were formed from dust, had God breathe into them the breath of life, or had a soul. We were formed truly unique by God. He also made a female from the rib of Adam.
So God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them. (Genesis 1:27)
But just in case you missed it, David writes:
For thou hast possessed my reins: thou hast covered me in my mother’s womb.14 I will praise thee; for I am fearfully and wonderfully made: marvelous are thy works; and that my soul knoweth right well.15 My substance was not hid from thee, when I was made in secret, and curiously wrought in the lowest parts of the earth.16 Thine eyes did see my substance, yet being unperfect; and in thy book all my members were written, which in continuance were fashioned, when as yet there was none of them. (Psalm 139:13-16)
God formed Adam and made Eve from the rib of Adam. Although the process is a little different, God is still making unique men and women. God does not use a cookie cutter to create His children. No two people are the same. Each has their own unique character qualities.
This should be a real encouragement to us. Our God cares enough about each of us to make us His unique creation.
