Daily Devotion 1 June 2018 Psalm 46:7-11 God is with us in our times of trouble

May 31, 2018 By Tom Stearns Leave a Comment

Good morning,

“The Lord of hosts is with us;…” (Psalm 46:7) That is exactly what we want in our times of trouble. He is also our refuge. Our place of safety.

Psalm 46:7-11 states:

“The Lord of hosts is with us; the God of Jacob is our refuge. Selah. 8 Come, behold the works of the Lord, what desolations he hath made in the earth.9 He maketh wars to cease unto the end of the earth; he breaketh the bow, and cutteth the spear in sunder; he burneth the chariot in the fire. 10 Be still, and know that I am God: I will be exalted among the heathen, I will be exalted in the earth. 11 The Lord of hosts is with us; the God of Jacob is our refuge. Selah.”

When we are in times of trouble or discouragement, what does God want us to do? “…behold the works of the Lord,…” and “Be still, and know that I am God:…”

When we look at the works of the Lord, it will give us encouragement and hope. When we are still before God, we are more likely to hear Him speak to us. Then we will be able to exalt him and rejoice in His goodness.
