One powerful way to support WASI and the seniors we serve in our community is through engaging your personal community to help.  Anyone can create a fundraiser for WASI on Facebook, and we would really appreciate it if you chose to help in this way.  Should you choose to do so, step-by-step directions are below.

  1. On your “Home” page, click the “Fundraisers” button in the menu on the left of your screen.
  2. Click the “raise Money” button under the “Create a Fundraiser” headline.
  3. Select the “Nonprofit” option in the pop-up window.
  4. Type in “Wasilla Area” and select “Wasilla Area Seniors Inc”.
  5. Choose an amount to raise.  We suggest $400.
  6. Choose an end date. (For the holiday campaign, we suggest ending January 1, 2018)
  7. Click “Next”
  8. Copy and paste “Mat-Su Seniors Need Your Help” as the title
  9. In answering, “Why are you raising money?”, you may either personalize your reason, use what Facebook auto-populates, or copy and paste the following response, “I want to help make sure local seniors have food to eat and a community to be a part of.”
  10. For a cover photo, click the “Edit” icon with a camera next to it.
  11. Upload a photo that means something to you regarding seniors, download an image from our website and use that, or choose one of their stock pictures if this will be too burdensome.
  12. Click “Create” and your fundraiser is ready to go.
  13. To make sure that your friends see your fundraiser, you can choose to invite them directly.
  14. Now share your fundraiser on your page, and make sure to thank everyone who gives to WASI.
  15. And thank you for putting yourself out there to do this for us!!
