Isolation Prevention
Reports have found that social isolation tends to increase as people age. This problem stems from a variety of issues including limited mobility, accessibility to transportation, the loss of a spouse, and a decrease in health status. All of these issues can lead to a strain on a person’s social interaction at a time when it is needed the most. A senior who is socially isolated may not be able to get the help needed to live independently, safely and with dignity. In many cases their daily needs might not be met.
Here at WASI we strive to prevent isolation by providing a venue for relationships and social networks to be developed. For information on how you can get involved see our Activities Calendar.
